About your team

The Lab focuses on developing a new generation of products related to e180’s mission: Reinventing how people of all ages learn around the world. While we don’t think apps solve all problems in and of themselves, we do believe technology can help create and scale meaningful and magical learning experiences and outcomes.

The Lab team explores new product initiatives in a fast paced mode, in order to validate key assumptions and ideas about a solution and business model, and ultimately iterate toward the right mix for our customers. We accelerate new product development through rapid prototyping, experimentation and validation, leveraging human-centered design, customer insights and data-informed decisions.

We care deeply about our mission and impact. We empathize with learners and customers, and when making decisions, we do our best to balance intuition and experimentation, quality and speed, passion and reason.

Your role

As the only full stack developer in this squad, you are involved in all key activities related to new product development. Working closely with the designer and product lead, you are responsible for all FE and BE tasks related to developing and deploying the initial features for new product initiatives, and later iterations, for different phases of the customer journey. When not coding, you have the opportunity to contribute to research, design and product decisions. You also contribute to improve the team’s agile processes. Thanks to your effort and know how, the team will work and deliver 2 or more new products yearly.

Your responsibilities

  • Partner with the rest of the team to understand business objectives and priorities
  • Acquire an understanding of our users and customers, as well as relevant insights related to the product domain
  • Make timely technical decisions to prioritize the project’s short term objectives
  • Own all Front-end and Back-end development tasks in order to make the product come to life
  • Provide input on feasibility of ideas, and contribute alternative solutions to help the team achieve short-term goals and deliverables
  • Contribute to the team’s agile processes
  • Work autonomously, and align with the CTO on key technological strategies

Some extra qualities that will set you apart:

  • A bias for shipping to users
  • Interest in user research and testing
  • Experience in implementing data tracking for product analytics
  • Focus on creating and measuring outcomes for users (VS delivering features)
  • Curiosity for marketing strategy and business models

About e180

e180 was founded as a social enterprise, and today, e180 is a certified (and award-winning!) B Corporation. This means that we’ve made a public commitment to leveraging our business to make a measurable difference in the world. Our flagship product, Braindate, has evolved over the years, but our mission remains the same: to transform the way that humans learn.

Why you’ll love it here:

We are value-driven.

Both our work and our company culture are rooted in a set of key beliefs and commitments that we came up with and revisit together. These values influence everything from our decision-making process to the ways in which we celebrate one another.

Our team’s well-being and growth is a top priority.

We designed our environment to prioritize team happiness and health—from our rituals (like our monthly gatherings, regular celebrations, and bi-annual company-wide retreats) to our space (a bright, plant-filled office in the heart of Montreal’s Mile End) to the healthcare that we offer to all employees.

You’ll get to learn.

Each team member gets to choose a personal Learning Quest to pursue. You’ll receive a budget, personal support, and ample time (100 hours a year) to explore your Quest.

You’re in charge of your time—and where you spend it.

We encourage you to self-manage your work schedule to best accommodate your life and commitments. While we have made office space available to our employees in Montreal, you can also choose to work 100% remotely.

You’ll get to travel.

Once it is safe to travel again, every member of our team will have the opportunity to travel to support—and experience!—Braindate productions all over the world.

Our commitment to diversity means propelling it. As a certified B Corporation in the world of technology, we believe that it’s our responsibility to actively foster a welcoming environment for those who might not feel included or represented elsewhere in this sector. As such, we strongly encourage applicants from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, national origins, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities, and abilities to apply.
